A busy bowling season is about to commence with the Northland Centre Opening scheduled for this Sunday at the Hikurangi Greens. Opening is at 1.30pm, followed by a roll up for those who want to a game. Centre handbooks will be available at Hikurangi.
The new season gets under waywith the Centre Pennants for Men and Women to be held on September 15-16. Entries close on September 10 and venues and sections will be decided when the number of entries are known. Format is four games a day and fours and pairs will be played.
The first Centre Open fixture is the Open Mixed Pairs to be held September 22-23. Players do not have to be from the same club but must be registered financial bowlers of the Northland Centre. Entries close on September 12 and are accepted by email via www.bowlsnorthland.com or by entry form from the Centre handbook.

Congratulations to Simon Reesby and Lauren Mills who have been selected for the Northern Region Development Training squad.
Congratulations also to Maureen Parker and Jacqui Howarth who have now passed the umpires examinations for level two, and to Sandra Dempsey who has passed the examination to be our newest registered technical officer.
Student competition
Centre rep squads have been in training and the first Regional event will be the Secondary Schools tournament to be held at the Onerahi Greens on September 29-30. Teams of six boys and six girls will compete against one another representing Auckland, North Harbour, Far North and Northland. The winners of these events will play in the national finals at Hamilton in December.
