A pair of Northlanders taking part in the 2013 Mongol Rally - from London to Ulan Bator, Mongolia - have finished the race after forking out for several repair jobs along the way.
Maunu's Jared Walsh and Portland's Duncan Forbes, as part of 'The Taniwha Funnel Club', completed the tripof about 8300 miles (13,300km) and now want people to make donations.
Walsh and Forbes said via their Facebook page earlier this week that they had reached the finish line, where the locals conned them into downing shots of vodka.
"[We have made it to Mongolia] after more than 8300 miles, three major breakdowns, crossing the deserts of Mongolia on our lonesome and a hell of a good time," the pair explained, who got into the challenge for a bit of laugh.
"[We] bumped into some locals on our first day in Mongolia who made us celebrate our first successful river crossing with shots of vodka," he said.
However, the rally is not all fun and games as now the time has come for Walsh and Forbes to find some extra money to support their chosen charity.
"Part of entering the rally is raising at least $1000 for charity. This can be given all to The Adventurists' (the organisers) nominated charity or half there and half to one of your choosing. We have chosen to give half to The Child Cancer Foundation and half to Cool Earth.
"At great personal expense we got this car to Ulan Bator, Mongolia. It's time for you guys to actually donate some money to a good cause now.
