There was more success for Northland teams when the Whangarei duo Dusty Reader and John Jamieson and fours team of Anne Bateman, Ann Muir, Maureen Rahui and Lauren Mills from Kensington were successful in the Region One Club Championships.

After their achievement at the weekend, they will now represent the area at the New Zealand finals in Invercargill from April 15.

Of the nine teams representing our region in the singles, pairs, triples, fours and mixed pairs, two won their event, and five teams came second. The Kensington women's triples missed out by one shot and the Arapohue women's pair missed by two shots on the countback.

Busy weekend

This weekend is a busy one for bowlers, with the Centre Champion of Champion Triples at Kamo greens on Saturday and the Centre Champion of Champion Singles being played at Mangawhai on Sunday.

Also in the mix is the 1-5 Year Intercentre final day of competition being held at the Waipu greens on Sunday.

Good turnout

Congratulations to the Coaching Association which had a 44 entries for its annual fund-raising tournament last Friday.

Prizes were handed out on three greens and, although the weather wasn't the best, a good day was had by all.

Next week sees the Kensington Women Division 1 and 2 Interclub teams play in the NZ finals of their event in Auckland and the Northland Men and Women representative teams play in the NZ finals of the Intercentre competition also in Auckland.
