The final Champion of Champion events for the season will be held on Saturday, May 5 and 6.

Entries have been received as follows:

PAIRS: (men and women) to be played at Mangawhai on Saturday :
Men – Onerahi, Kensington, Mangawhai, Hikurangi, Maungaturoto, Kamo, Ngunguru, Whangarei, Arapohue, Waipu, One Tree Point,
Maungatapere. (12)
Women – Onerahi, Kensington, Mangawhai, Ngunguru, Dargaville, Arapohue, Waipu, One Tree Point, Maungatapere, Ruawai, Hikurangi. Maungaturoto, Kamo. (13)
FOURS: (men at One Tree Point, women at Hikurangi) to be played on Sunday:
Men – Onerahi, Hikurangi, Kamo, Mangawhai, Maungaturoto, Dargaville, Whangarei, Arapohue, Waipu, One Tree Point, Maungatapere, Kensington. (12)
Women – Onerahi, Kensington, Hikurangi, Mangawhai, One Tree Point, Kamo, Maungatapere, Waipu. (8)
Please note that the draw and conditions of play will be forwarded to clubs and on the centre website on Monday.

Coaching association tournament is at Kamo next Tuesday, May 1. This is an any combination fours tournament. One 1-8 year player to be included in each team. Please support the association annual fundraiser by entering your team now. Contact Jacqui at the centre office or Sue Wightman of Mangawhai.

Congratulations to the winning teams from the Umpires Association tournament last Friday at Onerahi greens. Twenty-four teams took part and the event was run very successfully. Winners on the day were: Green 1 – Errol Edlin (Kamo) 1; Diane Strawbridge (Kensington) 2; Pam Brewster (Kensington) 3. Green 2 – Clive Claridge (Whangarei) 1, Mike Curran (Kamo) 2; Caroline Downs (Kensington) 3.

The final regional tournament of the season will be on Saturday, May 12 at Hikurangi where Far North, Northland (Mangawhai Men), North Harbour, Auckland and Counties Manukau 1-5 year teams will compete in the Mercedes Cup final. Play starts at 9am.

Reminder: Tickets are now available from the office for the centre awards and prizegiving evening on Saturday, May 26. This is the 10th anniversary of the centre awards and a special evening is planned. Function and dinner is $28 per person.

A visit from Bowls New Zealand CEO Mark Cameron and development officer for Northland Martin McKenzie is being held at Whangarei Club rooms on Thursday, May 3 commencing at 4.30pm. Changes to the way we play and pay will be discussed at this meeting so please ensure any bowler from your club interested attends this evening.
