North Harbour men roll over rivals to lead tournament

Some brilliant bowls were played at round one of Region One's 1-5 Year Inter-Centre Development Tournament, held at Waipu greens on Sunday. Thanks to Waipu for the great presentation of greens and the hospitality received.
The men's section was dominated by North Harbour, who now have a handy lead going into
round two over Auckland with Far North and Northland a distant third and fourth.
In the women's section, Northland and Auckland are tied at the top of the competition, with Auckland having the lead on shots scored, and North Harbour and Far North equal on wins although North Harbour are just ahead on shots scored.  All teams are in with a chance in the second round.
Results: Men Section: North Harbour 18 win points, 220 shots scored; Auckland 15 win points, 177 shots scored; Far North 10 points, 142 shots; Northland 5 points, 146 shots scored.
Women Section: Auckland, 14 win points, 194 shots scored, Northland 14 points, 172 shots, North Harbour 10 points, 172 shots, Far North 10 points, 166 shots scored.
The second round will be played on 21 March, 2010.
Centre Open triples
Thirty-six men's and 22 women's teams have entered the Centre Open Championship Triples to be played at venues this Saturday.

Play commences at 9am. Post-section play for men and women will be at Bowls Whangarei on Sunday, start time 9am.
Around the clubs
Dargaville men played the first club championship of the season.
Champion Pairs winners were Alan Rakich and Jim Vallance who beat Allan McKinnon and Wayne Robson, 15-10.
Onerahi women held the Alwyn Beehre Triples tournament last Saturday and the winners were Ann Halls, Linda Swanson and Jane Langford.
Hikurangi Club thanks all those who supported their Annual Duck Race. Results were published in Wednesday's Northern Advocate.

 Inter-club sevens
The Inter-club sevens tournament is being run in two divisions for men and women. Entries close today .
This is a club entry and the winners represent our centre in a regional final. The winners there go on to represent the region in the national final.
