Tikipunga AFC had a day to celebrate at the Stafford Choat finals, with teams from their club taking home two of the three trophies on offer.

The Northland Senior men's Stafford Choat Cup finals, named after the promising young footballer who died in 1974, were held at Toll Stadium on Saturday.

In the first game of the day Tikipunga Ryco (Div 3) beat Paihia (Div 3) 2-0 in the Stafford Choat plate.

The second match of the day was the Stafford Choat Bowl final between Kerikeri Siteworx (Div 2) and Mangawhai (Div 1). Despite being from the Divison below, Kerikeri Siteworx triumphed 2-1.

In a scoreline that mirrored division club counterparts, Tikipunga Pet Essentials (Div 1) beat Onerahi (Prem) 2-0 in the day's showpiece event, the Stafford Choat Cup final.

Onerahi were hoping to do one better than last year when they lost the final on penalties to Kamo but ultimately came up short again.

The women had their turn on Toll Stadium yesterday with Kamo JR Works playing Tikipunga Diamonds in the Northland Women's Premier Knockout Plate competition. Kamo were victorious 4-2.

That was followed by Kerikeri High School taking on Onerahi in the Northland Women's Premier Knockout Cup. Onerahi emerged as winners, taking the game 2-1 after extra time.

The teams were locked at 1-all at full time which forcing the match into extra time.

The win completed the league and cup double for Onerahi.
