Whangarei netballers left nothing in the tank during the promotion relegation round at the weekend.

After a big couple of weekends of grading, it all came to a conclusion with grading promotion relegation on Saturday which saw the bottom two teams of every grade play the top two teams of the grade below. All other teams had a bye. The results saw a complete change to the bottom of the premier grade with both Active Refrigeration Fideliter 2 and Takahiwai 1 winning their respective games against Wahine Toa 1 and Onerahi 2 to allow them promotion into premiers. This means that Wahine Toa 1 and Onerahi 2 are relegated to premier reserve.

The flow-on effect is that the top ranking of premier reserve grade changes, but the rest of the grade remains as it was with both Craig's Firestone Marist 1 and Active Refrigeration 3 thwarting the challenge from Manawanui Collegiate Red and Manawanui Social to be promoted from the top of A1.

The Manawanui Collegiate Red team were very competitive only losing their games by a goal or two so at the end of the preliminary round this team may well get to challenge for premier reserve again.

The preliminary round for premiers begins on Friday with hour-long games played indoors at Whangarei Girls' High School and Kensington Stadium. Premiers will play through the school holidays with their second preliminary game to be played on Friday May 3.

Juniors, intermediates and seniors have a two week break due to the school holidays before starting the preliminary round on May 11.

The premier draw for April 26 sees Treewise Marist take on Manawanui Red at 6.30pm, while Potter Electrical Onerahi 1 come up against Takahiwai 1 at 8pm. Both games are at Kensington Stadium.

At Girls' High's gym, Active Refrigeration Fideliter 1 play Girls' High 1 at 6.30pm, and Whangaruru Combined battle it out against Active Refrigeration Fideliter 2 at 8pm.
