Grant Kidd (No777) leads Bruce Mallindine in the Men's Production division at Taipa Speedway on Saturday.
Kidd battled throughout the three races, but Mallindine made it a hat-trick on the day, beating him across the line in all three heats.
Meanwhile, Mere Poharama was presented with her new C GradeSaloon car at the meeting. The wife of the late Percy Poharama, she was given the new car by her speedway whanau.
The project was organised by Geordie Inglis and many speedway whanau from northern clubs contributed to provide this gift. Poharama raced her new car at Taipa and had three wins from three races.
A good field of Supers and Saloons provided great action for spectators with Terry Grigg taking the first win of the day.
Ray Dare received the chequered flag in the second round, and Roy "Inchman" Walker took out the third round with Ray Jordan chasing hard. Max Andresen drove superbly for 15 laps to win the final feature "All-In" race of the day.
Men's B Grade was dominated by Roger Frear who had three good wins. Tony Over pushed his Honda for three chequered flags in Men's C grade, while young Sonny Halliday had his junior car out among the C graders and showed exceptional driving ability to finish second after three rounds.
Julie Graydon and Denise Frear hit the dirt running in their respective races. Graydon's excellent driving style had her leading the field easily. New C Grade Lady drivers Carmen Hallett and Annie Kitto quickly came to grips with the track and forced Poharama to drive hard through, and around, them.
