The Kamo Rugby Club will look to their past as well as focusing on their future as they celebrate their 125th jubilee this weekend.
Former All Black Alan Whetton (pictured) will be keynote speaker as the club examines its proud past at the formal bash this evening - while theclub's own All Black Ian Jones will host a special junior club day tomorrow, bringing the cameras of TV show Grassroots Rugby along with him.
Kamo is easily the biggest junior club in Northland and club members want to see it stay that way, going to the expense of contracting former Blues and national sevens star Orene Ai'i as their junior development officer.
"We've got 22 teams this year and he'll be coaching the junior coaches as well as coaching in the schools, in a community development role," the club's president Phil Bailey said.
The club day will be followed by an informal lunch before the two senior teams play Southern Districts matches against Mid Northern. The matches will be followed by a club social.
"There's a good sprinkling of people coming on Friday who were involved in the centenary and a lot of players and ex-coaching staff, who have been involved at Kamo over the last 25 years, will be there too," Bailey said.
