The Northern Advocate is privileged to be the caretakers, the kaitiaki, of the Drummond/Te Wake collection of photographs. Most of the fascinating prints in this Photo History are taken from this collection, along with a few from other sources.
Shared in this format, they are given new life as a record
of the people who settled and developed Northland.
It is impossible to look at these photographs and not be taken by their sense of history. But they do more than that. They evoke and emote a sense of who we, Northlanders are. They are part of our heritage.
