WHILE the east coast was tipping it down, the west coast turned on an overcast showery humid day on Sunday for the Golf Northland Junior Age Group Championships and the Frank Fitchett Trophy at Northern Wairoa Golf Course.
Despite the dodgy weather, the event drew a field of 64 players and
13 nine-hole golfers from clubs as far north as Kaitaia and as far south as Tapora.
Some excellent golf was played, and visiting professionals Quenton Diment and Carl Holbrook both said they were impressed at how the players thought and planned out their rounds on the course.
