Onerahi Soccer Club and Bream Bay AFC have recently been awarded New Zealand Football's Quality Club Mark (QCM) "1 star - Developing Club" accreditation.

With the recent announcement, Onerahi and Bream Bay now join six other clubs within the Northern Football Federation and 37 nationwide, to hold QCM "1 star - Developing Club" plaque.

Onerahi Club president Bernard Luiten said the QCM could not have come at a better time.

"With the completion of the new clubroom facilities, it is now time to concentrate on the club's performance in delivering football for its people," he said.

"The process to achieve this award has ensured the club has a base of useful guidelines for governance, procedures and structure.

"The award has built a strong platform from which the club will now manage the growth of football in our region."

Bream Bay committee member Mike Davies said his club were also blown away with the QSM accreditation.

"As a club, we have come a long way over the last 18 months and this is a great way to put the icing on the cake for 2015," Davies said.

NFF game development manager Chris Smith said the QCM meant that "Onerahi and Bream Bay have demonstrated desire and capability to achieve standards of best practice.

"Football in Northland continues to show strong growth in playing numbers, in particular juniors, and it is important that clubs like Onerahi and Bream Bay exist to deliver a quality football experience to their community."

New Zealand Football created the QCM to help New Zealand clubs perform at their peak.

This is a national partnership with the seven district federations, as well as 17 regional sports trusts and Sport New Zealand.
