Dame back on court to help fund juniors

New Zealand's most decorated squash player will be making a comeback - of sorts.

Dame Susan Devoy will play in an exhibition match at a fundraising event in Whangarei on Wednesday.

She'll be hoping she doesn't injure herself during the match as she is pulling double duty, acting as the guest speaker.

Dame Susan is a four-time world squash champion, and was the world's No 1 ranked player for almost a decade.

Northland's Finn Trimble and Dame Susan's son Jamie Oakley have been selected for the New Zealand junior men's team to travel to Poland in August.

The proceeds of the fundraising event will go towards getting Trimble and Oakley to Poland.

The evening kicks off at 5.30pm at the Whangarei Squash Club on Tarewa Rd.

Tickets are $30 per adult, $10 children and includes a barbecue dinner, exhibition matches, and an auction.

Trimble and Oakley are also running a one-day tournament during the day of the fundraising event.

This is open to adults and children of any ability.

Trimble and Oakley will be playing in the tournament with one of Canada's top junior players, and spot prizes on the day include a coaching session with one of the players.
