Whangarei club cricket players will be hoping the rich vein of form from the first round of the one-day competition, the Lion Red Cup, continues tomorrow.

Kamo and City together scored over 550 runs in their match, something of a rarity in the early stages of club cricket in Northland. Now the challenge is to continue the high scoring affairs.

With other club games running more to tradition - with a low scoring game between Zest Insurance Whangarei Boys' High School and Kaipara, and a default in the other match - pressing on and scoring a win will be an aim for Kamo this weekend.

Kamo travel to the Bourne Dean Oval in Kaipara, hoping to get up over a Kaipara team that lost by four wickets to Boys' High last weekend.

Other match ups see round one winners City travel and face Maungakaramea while Boys' High host Onerahi Central.

Last weekend Onerahi Central defaulted to Maungakaramea while City beat Kamo by 19 runs.

City's Joey Yovich was the form batsman last weekend as he scored a century. Yovich's team-mate Harry Darkins scored a half-century along with Kamo's Dylan Clark and Atis Qureshi.

The quartet of batsmen were the only players to notch up milestone innings.
