Centre pennants were played in very trying conditions last weekend and we were lucky to get all events through. Strong winds on Saturday played havoc with bowls and jacks and players were tested to their limits. Results:

Women:

Division 1: 1st Arapohue 17 points; 2nd Kensington Birds 16 ; 3rd Kensington Worms 15.

Division 2: 1st Kensington Snakes 18; 2nd: Hikurangi B 14; 53 ends; 3rd Onerahi Blue 14, 52 ends.

Division 1: 1st: Mangawhai Purple 17; 2nd Hikurangi 1 16; 3rd Maungatapere 14.

Division 2: 1st Mangawhai Blue 16; Whangarei 2, 13; 3rd Kensington Red 12.

Division 3: 1st Hikurangi 2, 16; 2nd Mangawhai Red, 14; 61 ends; 3rd Maungatapere 14, 59 ends.

School finals

Next weekend the Regional finals of Secondary School Bowls will be played at the Onerahi greens.

Forty-eight students from Auckland, North Harbour, Far North and Northland will take part.

The winner and runner-up in each division for boys and girls playing singles, and pairs, will represent the region in the New Zealand finals to be held in Hamilton in December.

Play starts at 12.30pm on Saturday. Four rounds are to be played on Saturday and three rounds on Sunday.
