Bowls: Strong turnout for junior singles draw

Fifty-two entries have been received for the men's and women's Junior 1-5 Year Open Singles to be played this weekend. The Onerahi green had to be added to the venues after the big response.

Please note: Markers are required and each Club should be providing at least one marker for every two players entered. For conditions of play, check with your club or on the centre website. Reporting time at all venues is 8.30am. The draw is as follows:

The 1-5 Year Interclub Regional tournament will be held at the Hikurangi greens on May 11. Our Centre will be represented by the One Tree Point Bowling Club. Play starts at 9am.

Top honoursAwards nominations close on May 9. The criteria includes awards for: Club of the Year, Coach of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Player of the year, Young player of the year (under-25); Team/side of the year, Greenkeeper of the year, Service to Bowls award, Club Volunteer of the year.

Nominations are accepted from clubs and individuals.

Finals countdown

The Champion of Champion singles semi final and final for men will be held at Bowls Whangarei this Sunday commencing at 9.30am. This event was postponed when the weather played havoc with the tournament a fortnight ago.

Clubs still in the event are Whangarei, Dargaville, Maungaturoto and Waipu.
