The weather disrupted proceedings for the first time this season at the Champion of Champion Singles, when the greens at Bowls Whangarei went under water immediately after lunch and the last two rounds of play were postponed.

Sixteen men's clubs and 13 women's clubs were represented in the event. When the rain arrived play was down to the semifinals in both divisions. Whangarei (Dusty Reader), Waipu (Wayne Wrack), Maungaturoto (Kevin Robinson) and Dargaville (Ray Mayall) will re-commence battle at the Whangarei greens on May 5 at 9.30am. In the women's section the semifinalists are Onerahi (Ann Halls), Hikurangi (Linda Pedro), Kensington (Fisha Murray) and Mangawhai Women (Sue Wightman) who will re-commence play on May 18, also at Bowls Whangarei.

Last day for entries

Entries close today for the Centre Junior Singles and play will take place on May 4-5 at Whangarei greens. Please don't forget markers for the day. One marker for each two club members is required please. Reporting time is 8.30am.

Any combination triples for 1-10 Year bowlers will be held on May 18. As this tournament has been transferred to Hikurangi greens you will need to be in promptly with entries as only 16 teams can be accommodated. This event was transferred from the Maungaturoto greens because of a clash with the Rally of Whangarei and a caravan convention at the Maungaturoto complex.

Regional finals

Northland will be represented in the regional finals of the Interclub 1-5 Year to be held at the Hikurangi greens on May 11 by the One Tree Point Bowling Club who won our centre final earlier in the season. Good bowling to you all.

Don't forget that nominations for all awards close on May 9. Nominations forms are available from your club secretary. Tickets will be available from the Centre Office on payment.
