The summer bowling season is coming to a close, with only two events left on the centre calendar.

Entries for the Junior Open Pairs close on April 19, so players get your pen to paper now.

This will be followed by the 1-5 Inter Club Regional finals at Hikurangi greens on May 5.

Whangarei duo Dusty Reader and John Jamieson, and Kensington fours Anne Bateman, Ann Muir, Lauren Mills and Maureen Rahui, who are representing our region in the New Zealand finals of the Club Championships, will play in Invercargill next week.

Thanks to centre funding, these players do not have to pay their own way as they take part in this event.

Centre wishes you all the best for a happy and successful trip.

Easter Weekend saw the completion of the Kitty Hawks Under-20 NZ finals in Auckland. Well done to Hayley Phillips who competed in this competition, winning four out of six games in section play, and losing a very close match in the quarter-finals.

This past weekend also saw Kensington Club celebrate their 90th birthday with an invitation Mixed Fours Tournament.

The weather was great, the hospitality outstanding and a great weekend was had by all.

Congratulations to the winners of the event - Sam Nelson, Steve Mitchell, Betty Mitchell and Mark Coles.

Dargaville also held their Mens' Annual Easter Tournament and congratulations to Steve Perrett, Cocky Thomson, Graeme Lawrence and Patrick Lewis, who won the event.

Nominations for centre positions for the 2012-13 season have closed, and it was disappointing to see the lack of interest shown for positions in administration of the sport.

It appears bowlers are keen to play the game but not prepared to give their time to the running of the organisation.

I understand this is the situation in many voluntary organisations these days.

Anyone keen to take on the responsibility of making the game successful both on and off the greens as administrators, selectors and coaches, please contact the centre office.

An events survey is being conducted.

This closes on Sunday and survey forms are available on the centre website and from your clubs.

If you would like to see changes to the way we run centre events or are happy with the way centre events are conducted, please complete the survey and return it as soon as possible.

The centre and club open tournament programme is also out with all clubs at the present time.

Please check your allocated tournament dates and apply to the centre match committee for any changes you would like. No response means no changes to your programme.

Hikurangi Club advise that the Neil Notton Memorial Police tournament cancelled due to bad weather will now replace their advertised 2x4x2 Pairs on April 19.
