The Mercedes Cup Regional 1-5 Interclub finals were held at the Hikurangi greens last weekend and once again the Northland Centre, represented by Mangawhai, came out on top.

The pairs team had four wins, triples team three wins and the singles one-and-a-half wins for a total team score of 17 points.

Congratulations to them on excellent play and an outstanding win.

The talent on display at this event was exciting to watch, the weather was brilliant for bowls and the green played well.

Results: 1 Mangawhai (Northland) 17 points + 43 differential; 2 Bridge Park (Auckland) 13 pts + 16; 3 Milford (North Harbour) 12 pts + 0; 4 Manurewa (Counties-Manukau) 10 pts -15; 5 Russell (Far North) 8 pts -44.

The event was won by Allan McKinnon, John Matich and John Smith, the only four winners on the day. The event was followed by the club prizegiving for the season.

Congratulations to the Ngunguru Club which turned 25 years old this year. A small celebration is to be held in conjunction with the opening of their winter bowls series.
