Northland men and Auckland women lead the chase for 1-5 Year Regional honours after they took out the event held at Mangawhai last weekend.

In the men's division, the Northland team had a fine start with four out of four wins in round one and 3.5 wins out of four in round two. They faltered in the last round, however, by winning only one match in the A4s, the other combinations losing to Far North (B pairs), Auckland (B Fours), and North Harbour (A Pairs).

North Harbour and Auckland are tied on 12 win points in second place with Far North on nine win points close behind.

In the women's division, Auckland got out to an unbeatable lead by winning three out of four matches in round one and four out of four in round two. Unfortunately for Northland, they had three withdrawals from their team with injury and a family bereavement. The replacement players performed well and the team is still handily placed to North Harbour with Far North also close behind. Auckland has a six point advantage to go into the next series of matches.

One vacancy left
