Congratulations to Dusty Reader and John Jamieson (Whangarei) and the Kensington four of Anne Bateman, Ann Muir, Lauren Millsand Maureen Rahui on their fine efforts at the New Zealand Club Championship finals in Invercargill.

Kensington finished third and Whangarei fourth place in tough competition. Thanks were extended to the centre for their financial assistance to both teams in getting to the event.

Junior pairs

The Centre Open Junior Pairs will be played on Saturday and Sunday. The draw is:

Men at Onerahi: J Rynne, R Hollingsworth,(Mangawhai); K Bint (Hikurangi); S Reesby, E Coates, C McLaren (Kensington); R Hynes (Maungaturoto); B Hayward (One Tree Pt); A Stirling (Ngunguru).

Men at Kamo: P Plaistowe, (Kamo) M Heaton, W Williams, R Cleaver, R Riley (Mangawhai); R Burgan (Kensington); R Wright (Onerahi), B Walsh (Ngunguru), G Mutch (Waipu); N Bint, (Maungakaramea).

Sixes and out

The Regional Interclub Sixes will wind up the competitive season for the Centre on May 5 at the Hikurangi greens. Teams from Counties/Manukau, Auckland, North Harbour, Far North and Northland will take part.

Good bowling and our hopes are for a successful tournament to our local representatives from the Mangawhai Club.

Play commences at 9am and five rounds will be played.

Annual awardsThe Centre annual prizegiving and awards dinner will be held at the Kamo Club on May 26.

A guest speaker will be on hand this year. Tickets at $25 per person are now on sale. Get your club group together and book a table. Please contact the Centre office.

Nominations for the awards will close on May 15. Please forward these direct to the Centre office.
