Krishna Nair emerged one of the stars with a record breaking performance at the Pompallier College athletics championships held at the school recently.
Nair set a new intermediate boys' 200-metre sprint record of 24.56s, beating a record held by former Blues rugby player Jason Shoemark 24.72s. He also set a record
in triple jump of 10.50m, breaking a eight-year-old record distance of 10.43m.
Dan Taylor (junior boy) broke the triple jump record with a jump of 9.30m.
The college's athletics day was once again keenly contested, all house captains and students showing good house spirit by wearing lots of colour and taking part in many events to gain points to win the day's competition.
Dowling House was the clear overall winner, with total points of 710, while second place went to Hobson with 532.
Dowling also won the house spirit award on the day, and the captain, Josh Hodgson, won the sun-smart hat competition.
