Smashing time
Smashproof will be in Whangarei tonight for their 10-year Anniversary Tour. The hip hop/rap group, comprised of Young Sid, Tyree and Deach, will be performing at The Old Stone Butter Factory to celebrate the 10 years since their first release, Ride Til I Die, came out. The performance starts
at 10pm with $25 door sales.

Battle for throne
To celebrate the long weekend, Queens of the 'Rei present "A Queen of Thrones: Winter is Here". Local and guest drag queens, including Meesha Swallows, Poison Ivy, Mia Deer and Miss Safari, will battle it out for the throne with solo, duo and group acts "full of flair". Join the theme and dress in drag to receive a prize from the bar. The event will be held at The Old Stone Butter Factory from 7pm tomorrow.

Rave waves for kids
If your kids like glowsticks and waves - this is the event for them. Tomorrow from 6.30-8.30pm, the Whangarei Aquatic Centre will be hosting Glow Party Wave Rave. There will be games, competitions, prizes, music, aqua run and more. If you need somewhere to drop the kids off for a few hours come on down or you can come with them and help supervise. The event is for ages 8 to 16 and entry is $8.

Paihia run on
Runners and walkers will be able to find out how fit they are when the Paihia Explore Paihia Half Marathon and 12km start from the Copthorne Hotel in Waitangi on Sunday. The 21km course goes along Paihia waterfront through Waitangi and the Haruru Falls bush track while the new 12km course will head through the Haruru Falls track around the back roads and back to the Copthorne. The run/walk starts at 8am on Sunday. For more information visit www.paihiahalfmarathon.com.
