Whangarei's leafy and central Top 10 Holiday Park has topped its previous consistent award-winning form by being named runner-up for the supreme award in the 48-strong group's awards.
Owners Linda and Kevin Lloyd have consistently won awards at every Top 10 Holiday Parks annual conference for loyalty card sales since joiningthe group six years ago, but being runner-up in the supreme award was a first.
The Lloyds also took first and third placings for awards relating to club membership sales.
The couple had an international audience for their moment in the sun - for the first time ever the conference was held in conjunction with the BIG 4 Holiday Parks Group of Australia.
The 300 delegates also included 28 North American holiday park owners from the KOA (Kampgrounds of America).
Earlier this year the Whangarei park gained the NZ Tourism/Automotive Association Qualmark 4 Star Plus rating, the second-highest rating.
Kevin and Linda Lloyd left Auckland to take up the lease on the Whangarei District Council-owned six-cabin property 15 years ago, and say the location is a big plus. "People can't believe Whangarei has such a 'green' site so close to the centre of town," they say.
The park now has self-contained units, ensuite units and cabins, power and tent sites.
