There'll be plenty of competition chasing the big one in Whangarei Harbour tomorrow with hundreds of people expected to take part in the annual Whangarei Heads School Funky Fishing Competition.

Based at Taurikura Beach, on Whangarei Heads Rd, from 12.30pm–7.30pm tomorrow, Funky Fishing is a family fishing and diving competition based in Whangarei Harbour.

Organised by Whangarei Heads School and Community Library, there are great prizes and heaps of fun for young and old.

It's an awesome day out for the whole family with the competition having a huge number of prizes.

Ticket entry gets you into the major prize draw - for a deluxe weekend away with Air NZ sponsored by Cottrell & Ross. Whether you fish or not, there is kids entertainment, music, a local brewery serving on site, barbecue food and fresh coffee.
