The NZ String Quartet lent their skills and knowledge to a fundraiser for the Whangārei Sistema programme on Saturday.

The group played a two-hour concert, which was a mixture of the quartet playing with the Sistema children and on their own.

Before the concert, the quartet spent two and a half hours in a workshop with about 35 Sistema students teaching them some tips and tricks on how to get more out of their music.

Northern Advocate photographer Tania Whyte headed along to the workshop.
