A man on the run from authorities and considered dangerous left a message on the Northland police Facebook page next to his own mugshot.

However, when police fronted at a Moerewa house on Tuesday night with a police dog, he decided to hand himself in.

Bronco Winiata Ropata Tahere, 24, had a warrant out for his arrest after allegedly breaching his home detention conditions.

Police appealed for sightings of Tahere through a post on their Facebook page.

Tahere was the first to respond to the post an hour after his photo appeared and posted: "Kia ora whanau".
