The sound of pipes filled the air all day long as people flocked to the Waipu Highland Games.
The 147th edition, held on New Year's Day was a celebration of all things Scottish - piping, dancing and the highland heavyweight competition.
This year six men, from New Zealand and overseas, contested the title. Despite raining washing out the final two events, Aucklander Jono McFarlane was named overall champion, backing up from his wins in 2014 and 2015.
Plenty of others tested themselves in the dancing and piping competitions.
Thousands turned out to Caledonian Park in Waipu for the annual day where there was plenty of food, and things for the kids to do.
