The man who died when his car collided with a house being moved on State Highway 10 was Nicholas (Nick) Kingsford of Kerikeri.
The collision occurred 1km north of Pakaraka Junction just before 2am on November 12 as the 52-year-old was heading south and the house was being transported north to Doubtless Bay.
The police investigation is continuing but the removal firm is not thought to have been at fault. Mr Kingsford's death has been referred to the Coroner. His name was released by police yesterday.
The house was being moved by Fistonich Building Removals of Auckland, not Larsen Building Removals as stated earlier. Larsen Building Removals had provided the pilot vehicles.
The driver of the truck and his passengers were shaken but uninjured.
The house removal company had two pilot vehicles ahead of the truck and one behind it at the time of the collision.
The crash, which occurred on a straight section of road between a bridge and a corner, closed SH10 for several hours.
A service for Mr Kingsford will be held at 1.30pm tomorrow at Knapdale Eco Lodge on Snowsill Road, Gisborne.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
