Ubana Jones back in North

London-born, NZ-based guitar virtuoso Paul Ubana Jones returns to Northland next week with another treat for music lovers.

Ubana Jones is recognised as one of this country's finest guitarists, mixing the blues with rock, classical and soul to create outstanding original music.

But next week he will be paying homage to one of the world's greatest ever singer/songwriters, Bob Dylan, as he brings his Paul Ubana Jones Sings Dylan tour north.

The show will be at Reva's on the Waterfront, in Whangarei on Wednesday; Marsden Estate Winery, Kerikeri on Thursday - with special guest Lil' Ian Goodsman - and Sail Rock Cafe, Mangawhai, next Friday.

The show is partly in honour of Ubana Jones' 40 year-long career in the music industry.

Born in London to a Yorkshire mother and a Nigerian father, Ubana Jones was playing guitar by the age of 11, beginning a four-decade career that would see him crossing continents and recording seven albums of mostly original songs.

After graduating from a London music college, after studying guitar and cello, he began to forge the solo acoustic style he has developed over the years.

Ubana Jones promises soulful interpretations of Dylan classics that are not to be missed on his current tour.

He's already recorded a superb version of Ballad of a Thin Man for his The Things Which Touch Me So album.
