Two crashes in Whangarei this morning

Police are at two accident scenes in Whangarei this morning.

Emergency services are attending two crashes in Whangarei.

A car left Hatea Drive shortly before 8am and ended up against a tree, down a bank. Traffic restrictions were in place while the accident scene was cleared up.

Shortly afterwards a truck and three cars are believed to have collided on Otaika Rd, near the Otaika Shops.

State Highway One is restricted with traffic backing up in both directions while the accident scene is attended to. It's understood one vehicle may have ran into the back of a stationary vehicle before hitting other vehicles.

Police said the scene may be cleared shortly, and the road fully reopened, once the damaged vehicles were towed away.
