Percy is a friendly and affectionate tabby.

Whangarei SPCA always has lots of animals in need of new homes. Our Tip of the Week feature includes details of one SPCA animal up for adoption, and an SPCA tip for animal care.

Percy

Percy is a nine-month-old, desexed male tabby.

He is very friendly and affectionate.

He is one of the many cats and kittens the SPCA has in its cattery ready to go home.

His tip:

If you find a dog locked in a car in the heat please call the SPCA or police.

The inside of a car can reach 39degC within 10 minutes on a hot day.

Within 30 minutes, even in the shade with the windows down, the temperature can rise to 49degC.

A dog's normal temperature is about 38.5C. It can withstand a higher temperature for only a short time before brain damage or death.

Contact the Whangarei SPCA on 09 438 916.
