One of Northland's premier tennis tournaments is gearing up for another big weekend.
The National Tennis Seniors Teams Event is being hosted by Northland at Easter from April 14-16.
Seventy-five teams from all over New Zealand have confirmed their entry with Tennis NZ Seniors and with an average of fiveplayers per team, meaning more than 300 players will make the trek to the North.
Northland has 14 teams entered.
All the Whangarei Tennis Clubs will be in use over the tournament.
The competition starts on Good Friday. Most age groups will play three sessions per day. The first session is from 8-30am to 11-15am, the second session 11.25am to 2.10pm, and the third session 2.20pm to 5.05pm.
Tennis Northland's Charles Adler said there was a lot of potential for some high quality tennis to be played with successful tennis players heading to Northland.
"We expect there to be some excellent tennis played over the Easter weekend," he said.
"Some players have competed with success at International Tennis Federation Events overseas.
"These include Quentin Maisey, John Lawrence, Mike Barry and Jill Gordon.
"Many thanks need to be extended to Mayor Sheryl Mai, who will attend the meet and greet at the Kamo Club on Good Friday to welcome all our guests officially.
"Toll Stadium has been booked for the prizegiving dinner, to showcase a piece of Northland. A beautiful setting with the theme for the evening being Moana (Beach and Ocean)."
