Te Tai Tokerau candidate: Maki Herbert - ALCP election profile

A vote for Aotearoa Legalise cannabis Party would mean:

■ An R18 regulated recreational industry

■ Affordable access to medicinal cannabis

■ The development of the hemp industry
■ Law reform, this would look like Portugal.
Portugal has legalised all drugs. They have proven that the crime rate has gone
down and more people are getting great health care.

Rehabilitation and mental health are on top of the list of importance to resolve.
Hence drug abuse is a health matter not a criminal matter.

ALCP would see that doctors would be able to prescribe cannabis products without all the restrictions and the huge cost.

A regulated framework for the people who choose to use the raw plant for medicinal purpose will allow them to, without the criminal aspect attached.

In a regulated cannabis market, the money that we would save from the present law of today (around $450,000,000 per year) would go to education, health, and setting up rehabilitation well-being centres, making it easy to access to those that have been recommended by their whanau or doctor to use or for those that want to make a change to themselves.

A regulated recreation industry would be like the Dutch model, creating the "Green" tourism industry, again creating business opportunity and employment, proving that there is a place for the cottage industry, coffee/tea shops and social clubs.

The development of healthy hemp housing, addressing the necessary shortage that we are facing in today's housing crisis and providing business opportunity and employment.

You will have a real wage, able to put food on the table, afford clothing (hemp), send the tamariki to school with kai in their puku and a healthy lunch in a lunch box.

The dream of owning your home is a reality with the hemp Industry.
Grow our economy and save our environment!
