"I can't complain about the performance really. It would have been nice to get some higher scores out there but I'm still very happy with how I went.
"The waves were pretty fun. They were about 3ft high and kind of clean. You'd get the odd bigger one too."
Scott–Arrieta won the first event held at Mount Maunganui two weeks ago and on Sunday he rode to a 12.0 point heat total in the final to defeated Waihi Beach surfer Zac Curle.
He will now head into the final event of the series at Piha in two weeks looking to close out the competition with one more good result.
Fellow Northlander Jamahl Moselen (Whangarei) rounded off the podium with Wellington's Henry Gautrey ending the day in fourth.
Scott-Arrieta said he hasn't got fixed plans beyond 2018 but may start looking at some training methods to implement.
"Well I don't really do much specific training at the moment," he said.
"I just surf as much as I can. I probably should start doing some sort of training going forward.
"Hopefully I'll get some high scores in the last Grom event and make it three wins from three.
"I'll see how the rest of the year goes at this stage. I still have two more competitions after the Grom Series so I'll look to do really well at those and then see what happens after that. Nothing is fully planned out yet though."
Meanwhile, other Northlanders were in action in the latest leg of the Grom Series.
Whangarei's Billie Scott completed a podium finish in the Under 20 Girls' division.
Scott, who finished third, and fellow finalist Lily McDonald struggled in the final as New Zealand Women's Champion Raiha Ensor made easy work of her opposition, recording a pair of six point rides midway through the final to complete the win.
Tom Norton of Waipu picked up third place in the Boys' Under 18 Division in a tightly contested final.
Norton's score of 10.5 wasn't quite enough to crack the top two as Jared Gebert (12.1) and Lee Ririnui (12) clinched the top two spots.
Ririnui surfed a clutch wave as the hooter sounded and posted a 7.0 point ride to go from fourth to second but brutally falling short of the 7.08 points required for the win.
Whangarei's Tom Robinson had a fourth placed finish at the meet, surfing well in the Under 16 Boys' Division.
Robinson was dominant in his heat and semifinal but was unable to keep up the pace in the final which was eventually won by Joseph Jungwirth.
