Certain activity stations at the Matariki: Make Markets were aimed at kids but an organiser says adults were also getting their hands dirty.
The Quarry Arts Centre partnered with the Te Kowhai Print Trust to bring Matariki: Make Markets to Whangarei on Saturday as a way to lead into Matarikicelebrations.

Quarry Arts Centre events co-ordinator Hayley Clark said the day was a huge success.
"I was so worried about the weather but the sun came out and it didn't rain. There was a steady flow of people all day, it was really good," she said.
The event attracted a range of arts, crafts and activities from weaving to hula-hooping and live music. Ms Clark said there were activity stations set up so kids could get hands-on fun, but it was the adults who wanted to have a play.
"For example, we had interactive weaving set up for kids and the lady said there were about two kids who came and the rest were adults who wanted to make flowers."
