Update 2pm:
One person has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a two vehicle crash near the intersection with SH10 and Waiare Rd about 12.30pm today.

The state highway was temporarily closed to allow the Northland Electricity rescue helicopter to land.

A police serious crash investigator is at the scene.

1.05pm:
Police are about to close State Highway 10 for a rescue helicopter to land following a crash in Kaeo.

Police, fire and St John ambulance staff are on scene and caring for the injured. The Northland Electricity rescue helicopter has been called for and is on route.
