A sell-out crowd will be on hand to celebrate the feats of Kaipara sportspeople at the annual Silver Fern Farms Kaipara Sports Awards to be held at the Lighthouse Function Centre in Dargaville tomorrow.
From the 83 nominations received by Sport Northland in 17 code categories, 72 finalists have beennamed for the upcoming Awards. Presentations on the night will include 28 ASB code awards, masters and youth achievement categories along with 13 volunteer or special awards.
The evening will culminate in the naming of the Kaipara District Council Sportsman and Sportswoman Awards with the Silver Fern Farms Supreme Award being the final presentation of the evening.
The calibre of nominees is once again very high with many finalists having either competed at the Paralympics in Rio, won national titles or competed at national and international level.
In fact, two Northland Paralympians will be acknowledged at this year's event.
The Silver Fern Farms Kaipara Sports Awards is a great opportunity to showcase the teams and individual adults and young people who have strived for excellence in their various sports as well as those who make sport happen in their volunteer capacities as coaches, officials, leaders and clubs.
Sport Northland appreciates the long term support received from local company Silver Fern Farms. "This is the ninth year the Kaipara Sports Awards have been supported by Silver Fern Farms", says Roxanne Kelly, Sport Northland's community sport team leader. "We really appreciate the partnership and the support given to Sport Northland over the years".
The evening will be hosted by More FM announcers John Markby and former local Lana Searle.
