Police have received several calls about a large oil or diesel spill on SH1 over the Brynderwyns.
Heavy vehicles are having traction difficulties on steep gradients and one vehicle has lost control and left the road near Baldrock Road.
Police are trying to guage the extent of the spill andNZTA contractors have been notified. Motorists are advised to take extreme care in the vicinity while the problem is being dealt with.
