Snap up a fashion bargain after viewing top designs

More than 40 Northland models will strut their stuff on the catwalk tonight in a Christmas fashion show.

A collaboration between NorthTec and the Northern Advocate, the inaugural NorthTec Savvy Christmas Fashion Show will be showcasing 145 outfits from NorthTec students and local businesses at Forum North in Whangarei.

NorthTec head fashion tutor Edele MacDonald said outfits ranged from sizes 10 to 20, with an assortment of styles such as items from the upcoming autumn/winter season, as well as six up-cycled creations made by students. Make-up looks will include retro and smoky eye.

"There's a huge variety of looks and styles. We will have everything from daywear, partywear, mother-of-the-bride to streetwear," she said.

"There will be something for everyone in the show."

Six local fashion businesses are involved, two make-up businesses and five hair businesses.

After the show, retailers will be selling the garments, shoes and accessories on the night at a heavily discounted price.

There will be canapes and bubbles for people on arrival, as well as the band Curfew playing from 9pm to 11pm.

Absolute Caterers will also be offering take-away style food for sale throughout the night.

Tickets are $28 for standard entry, and $43 for premium. Doors open at the Forum North at 6.15pm, and the show starts at 7pm.
