Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at a Dargaville service station on Saturday night.

A male attendant at the Mobil Service Station on Normanby Street was robbed at knifepoint between 10 and 10.15pm.

His wallet containing a small amount of cash was taken during the incident.

The victim, aged 25 years, had just locked the service station for the night when he was approached by two armed offenders.

One offender was armed with a long knife and the other with a hammer. Both offenders had their faces covered.

A police dog later tracked the offenders towards Hokianga Road, Dargaville. The victim received minor injuries from the assault.

Dargaville Police are appealing to the public for help to identify and locate the offenders.

One offender is described as a male Maori, about 20-22 years old, of thin to medium build and about approximately 1.58m tall. He was wearing dark coloured clothing and a hooded sweatshirt covering his face.
