Serious crash: State Highway 1 at Whakapara reopens

State Highway 1 north of Whangārei has reopened following a serious crash this morning.

Police say they were called to the crash involving two vehicles at Whakapara about 6.50am.

Two people are believed to have been seriously injured, and the Serious Crash Unit has been called.

Diversions were in place at Jordan Valley Rd and Hukerenui Rd.

New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said some delays were still expected.
