Serious crash at busy Whangārei intersection causes traffic delays

The crash happened at the Western Hills Drive and Maunu Rd intersection, pictured on a separate day.

A person has been seriously injured in a crash at a busy intersection in Whangārei this morning.

Police were called to the intersection of Western Hills Drive and Maunu Rd, Woodhill, at 7.30am.

Western Hills Drive was down to one lane in both directions but both lanes have since reopened.

The Serious Crash Unit was notified.

The intersection, where State Highway 14 and SH1 cross, is a key throughfare for motorists travelling into the city.
