UPDATE 4.24pm: The school house is no longer threatened by the blaze which firefighters have under control.
UPDATE 4.15pm: A helicopter has arrived in the Far North where a blaze was threatening a school house. Using a monsoon bucket the helicopter dumped water on the fire and in combination withfire crews on the ground the fire front has now been contained.
A scrub fire is threatening a school house at Te Kao on the Aupouri Peninsula in the Far North.
Fire applicances from Kaitaia and Pukenui as well as a helicopter are attending the 150 metre by 150 metre fire. Emergency services were alerted to the blaze about 2.30pm.
