Old Boys Marist have held off Kerikeri in a tough encounter to consolidate their top four spot at the halfway point of the Bayleys Premier regular season.

OBM secured a 21-14 win over Kerikeri in a game that featured seven yellow cards, highlighting an undisciplined effort from both sides.

The first 35 minutes of the contest were a grind as neither side could force their way over to open the scoring however OBM's Jesse-James Tipene crashed through the Kerikeri defence to score.

A third try, this one from Matt Harrison, extended OBM's lead to 21-0 as they looked to have the game sewn up.

However a pair of quick tries from Kerikeri brought them right back into the contest but OBM managed to hold on for the tense victory.

Meanwhile, Kamo completed the first half of the competition with another win, beating Otamatea 45-7.

The win leaves them with 44 out of a possible 45 competition points as they continue to separate themselves from the pack.

Hora Hora, meanwhile, are keeping pace with Kamo - they are just four points behind on the ladder - with a huge 63-24 win over Western Sharks helping their cause.

The Sharks mustered up a lot of fight but the class of Hora Hora proved too much as they secured second spot on the ladder for at least another two weeks.

In other fixtures, Mid Northern recorded back to back wins with a 55-21 win over Wellsford keeping them just inside the top four.
