On the day the couple responsible for toddler Moko Rangitoheriri's death are sentenced, Northlanders will be rallying together outside courts to say enough is enough.
Taupo toddler Moko died after being kicked, slapped, stomped on and bitten, over several weeks, by Tania Shailer and David Haerewa, who had been entrustedto care for him. The pair had originally been charged with murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a charge downgrade which sparked outrage. When the pair are sentenced on Monday at Rotorua High Court, people will gather in protest outside courts across the country. In Northland, there will be rallies outside the Kaikohe District Court and Whangarei District Court.
Campaigner Karen Edwards is co-ordinating the Kaikohe march which will leave from the old hotel site on lower Broadway at 9am. Meanwhile, a rally will be held outside the Whangarei District Court at 9am.
