Kerikeri Primary School PTA members work the glamorous futuristic theme of the fundraising evening.

Quizzes, auctions, artworks, stargazing and beach clean-ups are among activities that have kept Kerikeri Primary School students, staff and supporters busy in recent weeks.

The school community recently celebrated Matariki, combining the evening with the opening of an exhibition of children's outdoor art. As well as welcoming in the Maori New Year with karakia, waiata and kai, the families walked the school grounds to view the Art Attack works made earlier this term, the artworks now bringing a vibrant burst of colour to every corner of the school.

In the hall, they also saw a display of the children's work on Marine Reserves which has been a whole school focus for 2016.

The school's Room 15 (Year 3) pupils inspired families and friends to join them picking up rubbish from Opito Bay on the Sunday of Queen's Birthday weekend. The pupils had decided to take action after studying the impact of rubbish on marine life during their Marine Reserves studies.

On May 28 the school's PTA held its 4th Annual Quiz Night and Charity Auction to raise funds for more technology in the classrooms. The theme of the evening was Nothing Trivial - Taking You Back to the Future.

The evening saw 26 teams battle to be crowned the "Brainiacs", raising a staggering $13,470.
