Police appeal for CCTV footage after pair on bicycle struck by motorbike, seriously injured in Whangārei hit-and-run

Two people riding a bicycle have been seriously injured after being struck by a motorbike in Whangārei this afternoon.

A police spokesperson said a bicycle carrying two people was hit by a motorbike on Puna Rere Drive, near the intersection with Rolling Stone Rise, Tikipunga, about 3.05pm.

“The motorcyclist was one of three people on motorbikes in the area at the time, and is reported to have fled immediately following the crash. They were last seen travelling towards the intersection with Spedding Rd,” police said.

The two people on the bicycle were transported to Whangārei Hospital with serious injuries.

Police have appealed for CCTV or dashcam footage from the area that may assist in efforts to identify and locate the motorcyclist.
