The warm-up to the Maunga Mayhem Adventure Race on Saturday at Maungatapere had everyone jumping.

The warm-up to the Maunga Mayhem Adventure Race on Saturday at Maungatapere had everyone jumping.

It promised plenty of fun in the mud and boy, did Maungatapere School's exciting fundraiser deliver on Saturday.

Hundreds took part in the Maunga Mayhem Adventure Race. Maunga Mayhem is an adventure race with 12 different obstacles to complete. It is set on farm land at the base of Maungatapere Mountain off Snooks Rd, west of Whangārei.

The vision behind Maunga Mayhem is to provide good old-fashioned country fun. It is an opportunity for kids to be active outdoors, get outside their comfort zone, build confidence and get muddy.

And, as Northern Advocate photographer John Stone found out, there were plenty of mud-covered competitors by the end of the event.
