Person dies after serious crash on State Highway 15 near Ruakākā

A person has died after a serious crash on State Highway 15 in Northland this morning.

Emergency services responded to the crash at the intersection of SH15 and McCathie Rd near Ruakākā about 6.40am.

Police said the person was critically injured and died en route to hospital.

SH15 was closed in both directions for about two hours following the crash.

The serious crash unit attended the scene, and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
